I use term “Cassandroid” for an AI that makes a correct prediction, then gets outcompeted by one which says whatever a company wants to hear— I’m idly posting that here on the off chance it then catches on

Re Stripe: you are delusional and do not know what you are talking about. It usually happens when people generalize about things they have no knowledge of, or have never used. The entire piece reads as if it has been funded by similarly degrowth oriented "safety" think tank.

Back in the before times say almost 20 years ago, a friend told of taking advantage of the empty container problem by shipping scrap steel back to Asia in them.

A really smart guy. He saw the housing bust coming and sold his dirt moving business that depended on moving dirt for new housing developments.
